What is ‘Reading across the Curriculum’ and how do you get started?
Reading across the curriculum is the fastest (& cheapest) route to improved literacy in a secondary school. Lots of schools claim to do it, but few actually do it correctly. It requires planning & collaboration, and the school librarian is in the perfect position to lead by example.
The key is to not steal time from teachers’ lessons because you want to add reading. This workshop demonstrates how to integrate reading seamlessly into all subject areas, so that students improve literacy and subject knowledge at the same time.
