Does your organisation meet govt mandated requirements for supporting Islamic & Arabic values?
We believe that all countries should promote their cultural values through education, and that it’s fair to expect support in that mission. However, organisations who don’t make an effort to prepare do receive heavy fines. In the UAE, libraries are inspected for compliance 2-3 times per year, and failure results in an instant fine of 50,000 aed.
You've checked your books & other resources, but what about your hallways & classrooms?
A spot check is not enough, as inspection teams are well informed and thorough.
Here are a few things to consider: library books, classroom & hallway displays, textbooks, atlases & globes, and don’t forget your digital resources.
Are you aware that compliance trends change?
Some of the topics are obvious, such as: sex, nudity, drugs, LGBTQ+, and geographical names such as Persian Gulf. However, some topics are not obvious, and you must know where to look. For example, in order to fulfil any curriculum I am sure that you have books on religion, reproduction, renaissance art, social issues, & Greek history – we can’t remove these valuable resources, but they will all require some ‘adjustments’ if you wish to avoid a fine.
We offer three levels of compliance service
1hr zoom session – 1,000 aed
An ‘information rich’ discussion with key members of your staff (I recommend the librarian and a senior leader). Together we will outline the key issues and cite the most at-risk areas, then discuss how to manage each issue, and give advice on purchasing and importing. You will also receive a checklist to help you do a self-screening.
1 day visit – 5,000 aed
We visit your organisation for the day and check the most at-risk areas accompanied by key members of your staff who will learn the techniques as we work together. We will also advise on purchasing and importing and at the end of the day your staff will have the skills to complete the work over the year. We recommend – 3hrs library, 3hrs other rooms, 1hr leadership session, and an hour for lunch. You will also receive a screening checklist and a template ‘compliance policy.’ In the event of a negative inspection, showing evidence of a policy can often mitigate fines.
1 week visit – 19,000 aed
A comprehensive sweep of your whole facilty and all your resources, accompanied by key members of your staff so that they acquire the skills as we do the work. A complete screening will include your library, classrooms, resource rooms, hallways, displays, textbooks, atlases, globes, and also advice on purchasing and importing. You will also receive a screening checklist, a template ‘compliance policy,’ and ongoing updates that track changing compliance trends.
